Henna

Used in : Song Of Songs Oil

Referred to as Camphire in the KJV bible.

"My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Engedi.” Song 1:14

Henna comes from the Hebrew root word, kaphar, meaning to cover, make atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pardon, and to reconcile. Figuratively, it means a redemption price. Henna was used in biblical days for dyeing and it was red in color. It is with little difficulty that we see the representation of the blood of Yeshua. The fragrance increases our awareness of His sweet atoning covering that blots out the stench of sinful flesh (our old nature).

This tree in the “bride’s garden” is considered one of the plants of paradise in Jewish writings.

During the reign of Augustus, Emperor of Rome (27 B.C.-A.D. 14), Egypt became an important trade hub for commerce between Rome and India.

Henna, is known by a number of names including Camphire and Cyprinum. Camphire is a (KJV) bible name given to the whole henna plant and also the richly scented perfume created from the flowers. It was used throughout ancient Israel and was a treasured scent of the Jewish peoples. It was also used to treat serious skin conditions including leprosy and boils.

Henna

A white henna blossom cluster,
My royal lover, is to me
Intoxicating fragrant luster
Exudes, unhindered from His love so free.

Covering, the Hebrew understanding for Henna
Atonement is what it really means
Yeshua saved me from death and Gehenna
And He washed my sin stains clean.

His blood turned also my darkness into light
Temple’s crimson wool appeared like snow, so white
That awful stench of my sinful flesh
Drowned out by His pure scent, ever fresh

Considered one of the plants of Paradise
Lingering sweet smell, heaven’s merchandise
His blameless life for ours in exchange
Our terrifying fate on that stake was changed.

Henna’s grounded leaves, produces strong red dye
Reminding those who bear His mark, to look up to the sky
For the day when the dead in Him, in their graves no longer lie
We’ll also be changed in the twinkling of an eye. - HR
