"Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, Exodus 30:23"

"Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices: Song of Songs 4:14"

Cinnamon is one of the principal ingredients in the holy anointing oil. As one of the oldest recorded spices it was as valuable as gold.

Cinnamon or “qinnamon” means to be erect as in upright rolls. Ps 7:10 “My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.”

Stripped cinnamon barks are carefully packed in layers, one inside the other, to produce long, rolled and layered upright "quills." Ps 23:3b “He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” – The paths referred to here, indicates a circular track or path or rampart. This fragrance speaks of “layers” of righteousness, thus increased holiness. Yeshua’s life is our example of perfect holiness before the Father. Through His holiness we are made holy. He lived and walked blameless in speech and all He did. Titus 1:8 “…he (an overseer) must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

Recorded as a fragrance in the garden of the bride, reiterates the presence of a holy life in her, in Song of Songs 4:14. Cinnamon is used to flavor the noblest and most pleasant foods and is considered an aphrodisiac with a sweet aroma. Likewise is Holiness to the upright.

Most people around the world are familiar with the sweet and pungent taste of cinnamon. Cinnamon is the common name for the trees and shrubs that belong to the genus Cinnamomum of the Laurel family (Lauraceae).

True Cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka and India, where it was one of the primary spices responsible for the world spice trade.

The aroma of cinnamon leaf is more reminiscent of cloves than cinnamon due to the large amount of eugenol in the oil. It is often used in Oriental type fragrances.

Cinnamon is among the most antiseptic essential oils. It has been produced in Sri Lanka for over 2,000 years. Research has found that pathogenic microorganisms cannot live in the presence of cinnamon oil.

Cinnamon has been a favorite spice since biblical times, and since then has evolved many uses. It has played key roles in nutrition, medicine, religion, and the botanical economy. It can be bought in its pure form as cinnamon sticks, spice, or oil. It can, also, be bought as a herbal remedy, an ingredient in baked goods, or as incense.
